ArchivedJudging & Testing God??786, I will accept your challenge on 1 basis: That you do the same. But before we go on with the challenge, the Bible warns that I can be deceived even in my dreams. It also warns me that I can be deceived by an angel. So can you be a little more specific in your testing? P.S., the Bible does refer to the Almighty in capital letters. Even if your Qu'ran does the same, don't forget where it got it from. The sun, stars, etc, is used for humans to tell the difference between day and night. The day and night from the sun, stars, etc were created from the firmament. But the day and night from the earlier passages is a general sense of day and night, which did not involve the firmament. It's sort of like in the past, people got light through fire. But now we have electricity. The fact that we have electricity now, does that mean we cannot receive light any other way? The same reason God made day and night FOR US through signs, does that mean God did not make day and night any other ORIGINAL way? If I can come up with possible logical arguments, then there is no contradiction at all. You have to remember that I do not accept the Qu'ran (at this moment) to be the Word of God. You are using the Qu'ran to show it is a contradiction. But what I want to know (and what you raised) is, where is the contradiction in the Bible itself? It does not say the earth was created on the third day. He created the dry land on the third day. At first the earth was without form, and void (Verses 1 and 2). Now the earth had form, in terms of land (Verse 10). There is no contradiction, it's just that the passage in its context (on the third day), is seperating the water from the land by saying "Earth" and "Seas." You can make it sound like a contradiction if you play around with the words, but its meaning is clear. And you answered your own question when you said: "It's all in stages." That's correct! I have done some research and you are right. Although, I should have known this (I probably fell asleep in science 101), the moon (according to established science) does not have light of its own. But according to you, I thought the sun (along with the moon) does not have light of its own? Then you say the moon gets its light from the sun? For in your original question you implied both do not have light of their own, when you should have only mentioned the moon. But don't worry, we all make mistakes, and I guess we can call it even on that specific matter. Anyway, the Bible says, "greater light to rule the day and lesser light to rule the night." No where does it say the moon produces light of its own. God can be talking about light in general, for at night there is a lesser light. Unless you can find a passage in the Bible where God specifically says the lesser light is the moon, then there is nothing that contradicts science. For the passage also incorporated the lesser light with the stars. On a final note, in the rest of your post, you should have wrote the names of the people who you were quoting from. You had me confused and I thought I was the one you were posting to in the rest of your reply. |
