oneGOD said:"SON OF GOD?
The two terms son of god and god are being used loosely in the OT. It was used for two purposes
Genesis 6:"2: the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair; and they took to wife such of them as they chose"
Hosea 1 :"10: Yet the number of the people of Israel shall be like the sand of the sea, which can be neither measured nor numbered; and in the place where it was said to them, "You are not my people," it shall be said to them, "Sons of the living God."
Exodus 4:"16: He shall speak for you to the people; and he shall be a mouth for you, and you shall be to him as God."
We know that only the gospel of John call Jesus the ONLY SON OF GOD where the others don't. Yet we read this :
John 20:"17: Jesus said to her, "Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God."
Clearly Jesus us stating that his God is their God and his Father is their Father. Jesus is no different from the others.
Read this now:
John 10 " 33: The Jews answered him, "It is not for a good work that we stone you but for blasphemy; 1because you, being a man, make yourself God."
34: Jesus answered them, 2"[Is it not written in your law, `I said, you are gods'? 35: If he called them gods to whom the word of God came (and scripture cannot be broken),
36: do you say of him whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world, `You are blaspheming,' because I said, `I am the Son of God'?
"
(1) They called him a blasphemes because he said God and I are one
(2) He defended himself trying to explain to them that he didn't mean it that way and GAVE THEM AN EXAMPLE FROM THE SCRIPTURE TO SHOW THEM THIS. Please tell me I'm wrong here."
In the Bible, Jesus is the only one called the Begotten Son of God, mainly because of the virgin birth. But what are you trying to prove? It is clear that Jesus died for the sins of man AND it is clear that Jesus is the ONLY mediator between God and man. You cannot gain access to God unless you accept His sacrifice of Jesus. If you say the Father is greater that Jesus, then fine. You're not going to get an argument out of me because Jesus says the same, and I'm not going to argue with Jesus. But if you say Jesus did not die for our sins and that he is not of God, then we have a problem. Jesus Himself will have a problem with that, because He called Peter(his own desciple) "Satan" when Peter denied His upcoming death. (Mark 8:33).
