ArchivedProve Islam with the BibleI guess we're on our way to hell for giving each other gifts on a pagan holiday. Oh, and I better watchout when thanksgiving soon comes. It might rain fire and brimestone from heaven like in the days of Lot. I admitt that those holidays might come from pagans, but God's word does not say we cannot make up holidays. Pagans play sports which we watch, invent things which we use, etc. As long as it's not violating God's Word, there is nothing wrong. We are to love pagans even as we love fellow believers. For Jesus said, "For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?" (Matthew 5:46-47). Actually, I'm looking at the original Hebrew right now, and Immanuel does not mean "girl" or "maid" in that passage at all. The word is pronounced: `Immanuw'el, and it means "God with us" or "with us is God." If you are going to say things in posts you have no idea about, then what is the point of posting? Or what is the point of someone replying or even reading the rest of your post? And Immanuel is referring to the Messiah. The verse in Isaiah 7:14 says, "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. " First you have to realize that the verse says, the Lord will give you a sign. And when it says, "and she will call His name Immanuel", the word name is pronounced "Shem" in Hebrew. And it does not only mean a literal name, but it has another definition which means: reputation, fame, glory. You should not be so quick to think the verse is implying this will be the name of the Messiah. For it is a "sign" as the passage says. |
