ArchivedI just dont believe that men have authority over womenI was aware that you referred to verse 39 in your last post. But my argument is verse 39 DOES NOT sum up the chapter. It is verse 40 that does, which is why I referred to it, and not verse 39. The chapter is speaking on organization in the church, which has sub-topics that involve speaking in tongues, prophesy, and woman speaking in the church. Within those sub-divisions, the chapter stresses on one point more than the others. That stressed point can be (as you pointed out) about speaking in tongues, because that was a big issue in the Corinthian Church. Paul did not want people to think they were better than others; many were "zealous" of spiritual gifts for their own benefit and not for the Church (1 Corinthians 14:6-12). But the overall theme of the chapter is not about speaking in tongues. If it was, then your point would be valid. The chapter is speaking on having a organized church and not a confused one, which includes using spiritual gifts to only edify the church, and keeping silent when someone is prophesying. I am not trying to trash your opinion. But the main point I am arguing is your belief that these writtings might have been tampered. You based these "tamperings" on YOUR interpretation on a certain chapter rather than solid evidence. But, if that is your opinion then you have your reward. |
