Vote on a pollHaving sex when married without intent to procreate?Hi Chrys, I was raised episcopalian, if thats what you mean but I found them too liberal for me. And no, I don't know anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse of any kind. I'm not against sex per se, but I do think that it was regulated for a reason - that reason being that uncontrolled sex, sex outside the regulations God made for it, leads both to sin, and also to being bound to the flesh in a way that is not spiritually healthy. When used as God made it, then it is a great gift of God - there are positive sides as well as negative, but our culture glorifies the positive (or what it perceives as the positive) sides of sex to such an extent that a reliance on control in this area of practise tends to look like blanket condemnation. Hope thats clear BTW I thought of another reason - if we are no longer to be married when in heaven, then it would seem that the sexual act would stop (or else we would have a situation of "free love" which I do not believe is compatible with God's character as revealed in the Bible). Now, if there was an aspect of sex which was just for pleasure, just to increase intimacy, then surely that aspect could still occur? But if procreation is involved, then it does not seem likely in heaven. It seems to me as though the reason there will be no more marriage in heaven is that the reason for it will have ended - that reason being the reproduction of the species. /Lucilius |
