ArchivedThe Truth About IslamAlexei, Peace What I was trying to do, was show how Christians feel about Jesus, by comparing Him and His teachings to how you and other Muslims revere and hold onto the Qur'an as God's revelation to you. I KNOW from personal experience the reverence the Qur'an is given, and how it is looked after and treasured. I have seen Christians treat their bibles in less than reverent ways and can imagine that at times you must all wonder about whether it's the reason why we have "corrupted" Jesus' teachings. But, I wanted to try and say that, we love and honour Jesus as the revealed Word of God in exactly the same way you honour the Qur'an. As you treasure and protect it, so we also treasure Jesus and do anything as believers to ensure that He is not in any way dishonoured. When we hear that He is not loved and believed as God, it makes us feel the same way you would if you know that the Qur'an has been defiled in the way it has been handled. If Jesus is God and if His word is the revealed word of God as we believe it is... then how can we believe that God Himself would allow a corruption to come into our understanding of who He is. This would be an impossiblity. You believe that God gave you the Qur'an to "fix-up" the corruptions that had been put into the Bible text and to put incorrect teachings right. We believers know that Jesus came to do the same thing. As my signiture text said "The word became flesh and dwelt amongst us". We need no other text to follow Jesus, for if Jesus is God's word come in the flesh, we certainly don't need another written revelation. God is more than able to maintain his own word isn't he? |
