ArchivedHello to all three of youOdovaucer, Well that is an easy question to answer.. the sheer size and complexity of the Grand Canyon, makes me KNOW logically that a human being COULDNOT have chiseled it into place. Therefore, if a human being DIDNOT, the next logical question is "Well how did it get there?" Now, you already know where my thoughts will take me logically.. I won't list all my thought processes here, but I will of course end up in the POSSIBILITY of a higher being. Notice I didn't say it WAS the work of a higher being.. but it was the POSSIBILITY of a higher being. Logical thinking has to admit the possiblity or it's not following a course that is truly logical. It's equally true to come to the conclusion that it just happened in the process of the formation of the earth, that nothing was involved, but then logic leads us to science to show how it was formed... and therefore must take into account that a large body of water may have helped form it. Now that conclusion is plausible. Much more plausible than that it was chiseled by a man. If you accept it is plausible, you then need to ask yourself logically, well then where did the water come from, and what caused such a large body of water to flow through that part of the world and create such a structure. Now Science will give you an answer, but so will anthropology , in that every culture in this world has a flood story in it's mythology. Now logically, if a flood story is involved in every culture, a POSSIBILITY exists that maybe the biblical account of a major flood might just have some credibility.. and definitely more credibility than the earlier postualation that a man chiseled it out. Accept that there might be credibility in the concept of a flood and you find yourself contemplating the cause of the flood.. and well that has to lead you to the biblical story of the events leading upto Noah's Ark and what the Bible says of the flood. .. do you see where this is leading? Logically.. I have to admit, there MAY be something beyond my understanding that is ordering this universe. Equally, there may not be. but to be logical, I have to accept the reality that my world view is clouded by my belief systems and therefore if I see the world through another belief system, my world view might be challenged, and even changed. Is this why so many people are loathe to admit the logic involved in accepting the possibility of God? As you yourself said I say, the only logical conclusion is that as we do not know that He doesnot exist I would not be being logically minded if I did not entertain the thought that HE JUST MIGHT!! and the consequences of His existance. respectfully yours Carol |
