ArchivedChristian Priest Who Converted To Islam ..Hi Rome SweetHome Please PM Carol for a reply. Thx dear Carol ops: Never judge a religion by its people, judge a religion by its scripture. Please show me where in The Noble Qur'an it's said "kill the apostates"? How about quoting the following: Quoting can sometimes be really dangerous In the British newspaper the "Daily News" 25/6/84 under the heading "Shock survey of Anglican Bishops" We read "More than half of England's Anglican Bishops say that Christians are not obliged to believe that Jesus Christ was God, according to a survey published today. The pole of 31 of England's 39 bishops shows that many of them think that Christ's miracles, the virgin birth and the resurrection might not have happened exactly as described in the Bible. Only 11 of the bishops insisted that Christians must regard Christ as both God and man, while 19 said it was sufficient to regard Jesus as 'God's supreme agent'" But what is a messenger of God? Is he not "God's supreme agent" ? And have you ever thought that the Anglican Bishops might be the ones that are following the "real" Christianity? Again quoting from outside the scripture can be dangerous. Let's see some examples: 1-CALVIN, the founder of Presbyterianism, also burned a lot of heretics, among them Michel Servet, the discoverer of the circulation of blood. 2- SAINT BARTHOLOMEW’S NIGHT: In the year 1572 Catholics slaughtered more than 20,000 Presbyterians (Huguenots), including women and children, as a result of Catholic/Protestant war. 3- GIORDANO BRUNO: The great freethinker Giordano Bruno, who dared to defy the orthodoxy of the Roman Church, was barbarously tortured during eight years before being burned at the stake, in the year 1600. In the name of God, naturally! His crime was to believe that in the Universe there may be other inhabited planets. 4- GALILEO: In the year of grace of 1633 the instruments of torture were demonstrated to Galileo, showing him what expected him in case he would insist that the Earth revolved around the Sun and not the other way around. He recanted in front of the Pope, but retorted: "E pur, se muove". The other crime Galileo committed, in the eyes of the Church, was to write his books in Italian, the language of the people, instead of in Latin, the sacred language. He wasn’t burned because of his international prestige and because of his close relationship to the Pope. Galileo, one of the greatest thinkers of all times, spent the last days of his life confined by the Roman Church. 5- OUSTING OF THE MOORISH FROM SPAIN: More carnage by the Catholics, this time against the Moorish. In Spain, those who refused to drink a glass of wine (forbidden by the Qur’an) usually were executed or expelled to North Africa, where they usually were killed by the Mohammedan, accused of having resigned to the Islamic religion. It is reckoned that maybe up to 3 million false converted have been killed or expelled by the Christians, who claimed to be disciples of a man who preached love and compassion to everybody, even to one’s enemies. 6- THIRTY-YEAR WAR: From 1618 to 1638 the pent-up hatred typical of religious people exploded because the Catholic king of the Habsburg dynasty forced his religion to the Bohemian Protestant Germans. The war began in May 23, 1618, when the Protestants of Prague invaded the royal palace, seized two of the king's ministers, and threw them out a window. This act, known as the "Defenestration of Prague", was the beginning of a national Protestant uprising. As usually happens, religious matters became mingled with political affairs which lead to the first global European war. The carnage was so violent and ruthless that the German population was reduced by twenty per cent. Both contenders fought each other in the name of Christ. 7- EXTERMINATION OF THE JESUITS: The Jesuit order, founded by Ignacio de Loyola, was one of the most important Catholic orders of all times. It grew rapidly in Europe and in many parts of the world. Its object was the spread of religion by means of education, and has made great contributions to scholarship, also in secular disciplines. In Paraguay, in South America, they founded many reductions, or village communities of native Indians under the spiritual and temporal direction of Jesuit priests. In that country, for almost two centuries, the Jesuits governed a communal nation of Indians. They founded 32 communities with a population of about 160,000 people. They taught the Indians agriculture, hand crafts and commerce. 8- THE CASTRATI: In the 16th Century women voices were banned from church choirs. However, the Pope and his entourage could not be deprived of the sacred music. The solution of the Roman Church was to castrate young boys which exhibited especial talent for singing, so that they would keep their beautiful soprano or contralto voice throughout adulthood. This mutilation was common in Italy until the accession of Pope Leo XIII, in 1878, who interrupted this barbarous practice. It is impossible to exaggerate the drama the castrati had to suffer for a whole life only to please the musical taste of the prelates of the Roman Church. Many was known to commit suicide. etc....... When will Christians admit Human Rights and allow people to freely choose their religion? What can we do to stop this injustice? One more time: Never judge a religion by its people, judge a religion by its scripture I didn't get your point here! Thx Alexei |
