So where is the love of Christ?
You know, the same question remains. Where is the love of Christ in your message to Gabi? or in your response to me?
Paul, Peter, John, all of the writers in the NT (with the possibleexception of John the Divine) always at the very least mentioned the great love of the Father through Jesus Christ, and always held out the possibility of redemption, even as they railed against sin.
Holding out the gospel is never casting "pearl before swine." True, some theological discussions are a bit arcane for the new Christian, but I've tried to keep this discussion grounded in specific Biblical examples as well as explaining things simply. The gospel - the "good news" is that God came down in human form, forgiving sins, and defeating death. Where is that gospel message in your posts?
My brother in Christ, my heart aches for you, because it seems to me that you can find no peace in Christ, no "blessed assurance" that reflects the love and compassion of Christ. Instead, you hammer away at theological nicities while missing the point - God came down in human form as an act of compassion and mercy. That same mercy that is available to you and I (even though we don't deserve it) is available to all. We can reflect that mercy by showing others compassion. Perhaps you don't realize that this sort of rhetoric tends to drive most people away from seeking the truth about Christ... and so, by failing to offer prays of compassion, a message of the possibility of redemption, the good news that Jesus came to free us from the Law is lost in the process.
I hope you will pray for me and I will definitely pray for you, my brother in Christ Jesus. May God give you peace. Please pray on this point. Nothing separates us on a theological basis, Marty. We have the same hate of sin and of Satan's traps. I just don't see any Christian love - i.e., the love for the sinners of this world - and that is my point.
