Christian/Muslim ThreadsQuestions directed to both Muslims & Christians..Greetings Elsa There is a Bible verse that answers this question, and also it ties in with the questions you asked yesterday. Can you look at Hebrews 11 for me please. Read the entire chapter and you will see that it contains a long list of people who were from the Old Testament, and who were commended for their faith This perfection was of course Jesus. You see, there was only one purpose for all of history before Christ, and that was all preparation for His coming, and now, we are in a period leading up to His second coming. We like to say that history is really HIS story. For only as we say that can we make sense of anything. If God is truly Creator and if He has a plan for this world and for all humans, and if we were created to praise Him, both now and in eternity, then it really is HIS story and nothing that happens, passes unknown to Him. Now you mention the verses in Romans Please note, these verses are written to show the difference between a Christian and a nonchristian. When Jesus was talking to Nicodemus in John chapter 3, He said that a man could only get to heaven if he was born again.. that is he was born of spirit and not of water. This is a spiritual experience and explains the meaning of Romans 8. You see, the man who is not a believer, is living with a nature that has been defiled by sin, and we have talked about the Holiness of God, and how God Himself is the standard. In order to be born again, the spirit of God must come and as the Bible describes it, give as a new nature, so that the old things will pass away and all things will be come new. Did the spirit exist before Jesus? According to the OT in many places from Genesis onwards the Holy Spirit is discussed time and time again, though in the OT He is described as being with people, and sometimes to come upon people, but the Prophets prophecy of a time when he will be within people and will write God's word on their hearts. This is the "born again" experience I have just talked about. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would come into people after He went back to heaven, and He promised the Holy Spirit would guide God's people into all truth. Elsa please read John 3:16-18. The Bible says that God loved you before you loved Him, and that He sent His Son into the world WHILST YOU WERE STILL A SINNER. Elsa none of us deserve Jesus. As a very special friend of mine said to me today "it's a privilige we can worship God." We don't deserve that privilige, but He loves us so much, that even whilst we are saying all manner of things about Him, He sent His Son to die a cruel and horrible death, to bring us into a relationship with Him. You don't have to be "good" to come to God.. you come as you are and recognize that jesus died for you and loved you enough to "become sin for you" so you might live. The Bible says in 1 John, "this is love, not that we love God, but that He first loved us." He loves you Elsa and He died for you, because you are a sinner, not in case you sinned. He loves you in exactly the state you are in now.. and that will never change. That Jesus you saw in the Passion.. He was only a man who tried to depict something of the reality of what Jesus went through for you. Let me read you Isaiah 53 Many are saying different things about the passion, but one thing that no one can deny about the real Jesus, is that He.. God.. loved you so much, He went through it all.. so that you could know without a doubt that He loves you and could spend eternity with Him. If you had been the only person alive on this earth, He still would have gone through all the pain and suffering plus much much more, that you saw depicted on the Passion, just because He loves you, even if you don't love Him, or know if you love Him. I'll return tomorrow and try and add more to this if you want it Elsa, but please know.. You are loved and cherished by Almighty God.. so much, that He has done all that is necessary to give you eternal peace. God bless Elsa See you soon Carol |
