ArchivedCan a christian lose his salvationZeke wrote:Aineo said:For this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins."
Answer this question for me what is the "covenant" mentioned in this verse? Before we get to the subject of keeping 220 commandments .
No one ever said there are 220 commandments, you said that in your statement above!!, if you go look at my prior post I stated, there are 220 verses on( communion keeping )and the reasons of why this is so important in our walk with christ and love for him. Okay I misread your post based on you lack of clarity. However, I still need you to define the “covenant” as you understand it.
The sections of Scripture I quoted were where the Lord's Supper was initiated; I did not state these sections were the only sections the Lord's Supper is mentioned. What I do not see in these sections is where the Lord's Supper is a requirement for salvation.
Paul warns about taking communion with an un-repentant heart. Simple confession of sin is insufficient unless you have released the sin. In other words you can confess you are angry with your brother and are still holding onto that anger and take communion you are being disobedient.
Let me give you an example. As an ex-gay man I deal with Christian's who are constantly angry with gay activists. If these people take communion while harboring this anger they are living in disobedience. "A new commandment I give you "love your neighbor as yourself". If a Christian "interprets" this to mean only their "neighbors in the faith" they are "interpreting" God's word based on a private agenda. Who is our neighbor? Study the parable of the good Samaritan. If any Christian still views gay activists as their enemy and not their neighbor then these Scriptures apply:
Matt 5:22
22 "But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever shall say to his brother, 'Raca,' shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever shall say, 'You fool,' shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.
NAS
Matt 5:43-48
43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.' 44 "But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you 45 in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 "For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax-gatherers do the same? 47 "And if you greet your brothers only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 "Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
NAS
1 Cor 5:9-13
9 I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; 10 I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters; for then you would have to go out of the world. 11 But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he should be an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler-- not even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? 13 But those who are outside, God judges. Remove the wicked man from among yourselves. NAS
Rom 12:19-21
19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. 20 "But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head." 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. NAS
Heb 10:30-31
30 For we know Him who said, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay."[/b] And again, "The Lord will judge His people." 31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God. NAS
The Lord's Supper is an intergral part of a Christian's life; but it is not a requirement or a commandment for living a Christian life.
