ArchivedReality v.s. TraditionThis is the verse I use to show Jesus prohibits a second marriage, which is why there are eunuchs to the glory of God. Jesus is not teaching celibacy for the priesthood or for any man as far as that goes. Put the whole teaching in context and you can see the error of your "interpretation. As to Jesus never getting married, read your Bible He is the Bridegroom of His Church.
In Matthew 23:1-12, when Jesus tells us to call no man "father" or "teacher," He is using figurative language to emphasize that all legitimate authority and truth ultimately come from God. We are not to take these passages literally. Throughout the Bible men are called fathers and teachers. Both Catholics and Protestants call earthly men fathers,no man means no man including your earthly father Aieno. If you are going to take it so literally it should also include him. St. Stephen and St. Paul call the Jewish religious leaders "fathers" (Acts 7:2 and 22:1). St. Paul calls the Corinthians; "my beloved children..., for I became your father in Christ Jesus through the Gospel" (I Cor 4:14-15; also see 1 Thess 2:11, 1 Tim 1:2, and Tit 1:4). St Paul became their Spiritual Father Aieno, dont take all the Bible so literally. you have been refuted again, as I have also answered you using Sola Scripture,no tradition yet.
Paul is teaching as a father; John calls those he writes to "children". This is a lame explanation. But, one I can accept. We have not discussed the immaculate conception, the perpetual virginity of Mary or the assumption. Before your virus took you off the Internet you were lecturing us. As to purgatory you have yet to establish purgatory as a viable concept. The immaculate conception and the assumption are Gnostic concepts not Jewish concepts and are not taught in Scripture. Mary's perpetual virginity can be shown to be false from Scripture. One more time; "adelphos" mean a brother from the same biological mother. However, it is used metaphorically for brothers in Christ in other sections of the NT. "Adelphe" is sisters from the same biological mother and the same comment about "adelphos" applies here. The Greek for "cousin" is "anepsios" and the Greek for kinsman is "suggenes". Per Jewish custom the mother of children where a man has married more than once accompanies the name of the children because Hebrews are a matriarchal society where decent is shown through the female line. There is no Biblical record of Joseph having a prior wife. |
