Here's an article detailing the event, well, one night maybe.
THE APPEARANCE OF THE VIRGIN MARY
IN ZEITUN, EGYPT
APRIL 2 (BARAMHAT 24)1968
St. Mary, Mother of God, appeared at night on the second day of April, 1968, over the domes of the church of St. Mary at Zeitun, Cairo. She appeared in luminary and spiritual figure and for the first time in history, she continued her manifestation in an uninterrupted way on consecutive nights. Each time the appearance would last for several hours each night and was seen by thousands of people of different faiths and nationalities. This continued for two and half years.
St. Mary looked at the crowds who were cheerful with joy and she waved back to them with her blessing. At the beginning, those who saw her before realizing what was going on, thought that she was a girl about to jump from the height of the dome of the church and they called the police [Rescue Squad].
To their surprise they realized that they were witnessing a phenomenon which did not happen before. Her appearance became clearer and clearer and the light was vivid and bright. They switched off the lights in all the district, but her light was more visible. They realized that she was the Virgin Mary, the "Mother of the Light"
Multitudes from all over the country, with different faiths, came to see her each night and she gracefully appeared and behind her was an angel spreading his wings. The Christians had no doubt that she was the Virgin Mary, The Muslims recognized that she looked like the icons of St. Mary. Everyone praised and prayed,
Doves with luminary appearance were flying around her, though it is known that ordinary doves do not fly at night, the time when the apparition happened.
She was dressed like a queen with a laminating scarf covering her head. She was standing most of the time, but moving at times. Some nights she would have a crown on her head, with sparkling jewels and a small cross in it. On occasions she would appear carrying Jesus Christ as a baby over her left arm.
In a majestic way, she nodded to the crowds with her head, as if she was responding to their cheers and joy.
St. Mary appeared early this century in Portugal, at Fatima as well as in France at Lourdes, and other places. These places became places for pilgrimage for many Christians to visit. At Zeitun in Cairo, her appearance was unique as she appeared to thousands of people at a time for hours, every night and for almost two and half years.
Many miracles were recorded and proven that they were true and valid. Many of those who came with chronic diseases and disabilities were cured. Hundreds of testimonies were verified. The official committee, made of bishops and others verified the events to be true. Many books had been printed and published describing the events in full details.
The church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Santa Monica, California was the first to celebrate this universal occasion by building a chapel and to name it after St. Mary of Zeitun, as a noteworthy event that happened twenty eight years ago in Egypt.
St. Mary is not stranger to Egypt. She took Jesus Christ, the child with Joseph and fled to the land of Egypt during the rule of King Herod. Not far from the church there is an ever green tree where they rested for a while under its shade. (The Matareyah tree)
His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, came specifically to Santa Monica to consecrate the chapel's altar on September 14, 1995 to be named St. Mary, Our Lady of Zeitun.
