ArchivedCatholic Church :: Praying to Saints????Hmmm. Saints means ; and angels would indeed be consecrated to the service of God. However, your appeal to Revelation where the elders have golden bowls "filled with the prayers of the saints" does not mean the elders can hear our prayers. One reason some Christians believe in a pre-trib rapture is because of the saints asking God when they will be avenged, however these saints are in heaven not on earth and they are interceding for themselves not us. One function of angels is to praise God and they also serve as His ministers and messengers. In other words they are under God's authority. Can you show me a Scripture that states emphatically that saints and angels can hear our prayers? Actually your reasoning does not apply. In the OT Tabernacle and Temple the altar of incense would symbolize the prayers of God's people, which are a pleasing aroma to Him. The picture of heaven in Revelation does not presuppose that the elders or angles can hear the prayers presented as incense to God. In fact the incense is portrayed as being presented or offered to God not to the angels and the saints. Traditions and the magisterium can be wrong (and can be shown to be wrong) and you have not established your thesis from Scripture. |
