Instead of teaching children to accept and tolerate what is obviously an alternative lifestyle, Nickelodeon should teach them not to tolerate said lifestyle, but to love the people and respect them. And Nick should definitely not tell the kids "Hey. You know those looney people who call themselves Christians? Remember this, kids: they don't love you like we love you. They're bad people."
This is the kind of message that is constantly reinforced, even by Nickelodeon. I like the article that I checked out a few days ago, which points out that Christians are the only ones expected to tolerate other lifestyles and beliefs. And yet, when it comes to respect and tolerance for us, the usual response is, "Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Go find another line to stand in, Jesus freak."
Madeleine, since the Fall, human beings have inherited sin. Granted, we don't choose to be sinful - we're born with it - but we can choose to exercise discretion. We can choose not to give in to those temptations. Homosexuality is just like every other sin: people are born with it, but they can choose not to give in to that temptation. (That would be me saying "No" to your chemical imbalance theory.) Unfortunately, thanks to the liberal media, our children have been told, "You want to be gay? Be gay. Nobody's going to stop you. Have at it, kid. Here's a condom."
Those desires did not come from God. Trust me on this. They come from Satan, who caused Adam and Eve to sin. Sin was then passed down through the generations, and it's only become worse. We've inherited our tendency to murder, to steal, to lie, to cheat, to commit adultery, etc. from that one sinful act that took place in Eden. Yes, God is responsible for creating life. However, He is not responsible for the immoral decisions we make. Blaming God is a lame and illogical cop-out that some gay people use to defend their actions. (This is actually a tool that Satan uses to delude the masses and snatch them one by one from God's grasp.) If they actually read the Bible, they'd understand that God did not create sin. He just offered us Someone to save us from the punishment that comes as a result of sin.
We all know who we can blame for sin (Satan), and he was defeated when Jesus died on the cross and rose three days later. Satan just doesn't want to admit it.
BTW, here's that article I mentioned in the second paragraph of this message.
