ArchivedWhich comes first, the Rapture or Resurrection? :: Re: Which comes first, the Rapture or Resurrection?Dear people, 1Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-58 do indeed speak of "the rapture". But how there is any question of when the rapture occurs is a mystery to me. The only way that the "rapture" becomes confusing is by listening to people who try to change what the Bible says into something that it doesn't say. It is really very simple. In both 1Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-58 there is a resurrection of the dead in Christ and there is the changing of those who are alive from mortal to immortal. In both 1Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-58 the resurrection of the dead in Christ happens *before* those who are alive are changed from mortal to immortal. And we know from 1 Cor 15:22-23 that the dead in Christ will be resurrected at the return of the Lord. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. 1 Cor 15:22-23 (KJV) Therefore, "the rapture" happens *after* the resurrection of the dead in Christ at His return. Does anyone believe that 1Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-58 do not refer to "the rapture"? If so, what Scripture would you quote which does show a "rapture"? Does anyone dispute that 1Thessalonians 4:13-18 say plainly that the dead in Christ shall rise first and *then* we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds? Does anyone dispute that 1 Corinthians 15:51-58 says the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed? In 1 Corinthians 15:51-58 the dead being raised incorruptible is mentioned before our being changed is mentioned. If there was any question about which happens first, one could simply refer to 1Thessalonians 4:13-18 since 1Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-58 both describe the same event. Also, the resurrection of the dead in Christ as described in 1Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-58 is the first resurrection as described in Rev 20. Exactly when does the resurrection of the dead in Christ happen? At the 7th trump of Revelation, which is also "the last trump". 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, *at the last trump*: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1 Cor 15:52 (KJV) 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and *with the trump of God*: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 1 Thess 4:16 (KJV) 7 But in the days of the voice of the *seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound*, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. Rev 10:7 (KJV) 15 And the *seventh angel sounded*; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
