ArchivedA requestWhile it is profoundly disturbing that some would ruin their lives because of evidential homosexual and general sexual fear and prejudice in the Bible, if this perplexing literal word of God is that important to a person, then one may just as well be satisfied sacrificing the most fundamental necessity of romantic gratification for the somewhat perverse belief that he is purifying himself by doing so. This is an individual choice that I can respect, if it truly does bring happiness to a so-called “ex-homosexual.” As a homosexual who has undergone many phases of severe depression and self-loathing and suicidal tendencies due to the general attitude of a deep-seated Christian-influenced society and not even with the belief of the Christian God, I can testify for myself that true happiness is feeling content with the person you are, free of guilt and shame imposed by a set of moral codes that mostly are solely applicable 5,000 years ago. I quote 5th Raven: “The bible is a book of morals, not a book of facts. And as everyone knows, morals are as fickle as water, they change shape to meet the container.” While my own psychological happiness is not influenced by Jesus but rather with the relationships I form with other human beings, it is touching and somewhat befuddling that some would actually go so far as to deny themselves of their sexuality for their love of Jesus. And while I would never do such a thing myself, and as mentally perverse as it does appear to me, if it makes you happy, then I am willing to support it. Although I do question this “ex gay” notion. It is possible to change your actions, but not your genetics. To believe that one has undergone some sort of self-controlled sexual transformation is ludicrous. |
