Christian/Muslim ThreadsAllah takes Muhammad as a Partner!farside, please speak something that is relevant and which makes sense. Your argument is obviously groundless. The 'We' in the Quran is used as a 'royal plural', and does not imply Allah's plurality or his requiring any help. The 'royal plural' is existent in many languages, including my own mother tongue, Sindhi, and my national language, Urdu, though it is much less used in English. Believer, you said: Jesus(pbuh) was among the mightiest messengers of Allah but he was not any more than a Prophet of Allah. Actually, he himself says in the Bible that all he did was with the power of Allah, and for His will: John5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. And the definition of a Muslim is 'one who submits his will to Allah's will'. Jesus(pbuh) was thus a Muslim. He also says in the Bible: "My Father is greater than I." [The Bible, John 14:28] "My Father is greater than all." [The Bible, John 10:29] "…I with the finger of God cast out devils…." [The Bible, Luke 11:20] Jesus(pbuh) himself says in the Bible that he was 'sent' by God. "… and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me." [The Bible, John 14:24] "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou has sent." [The Bible, John 17:3] He never claims divinity in the Bible. In fact, consider this incident: "And behold, one came and said unto him, ‘Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?’ And he said unto him, ‘Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.’ " [The Bible, Mathew 19:16-17] He doesn't say that 'if you want to go to Paradise worship me', but he said 'keep God's commandments', i.e. submit your will to God's commands. Note also that Jesus(pbuh) was a "man": "Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know." [The Bible, Acts 2:22] In fact in the Bible God says that there is no other God: "I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour." [The Bible, Isaiah 43:11] So why do you say that Jesus(pbuh) is your saviour? He is your saviour only because he told you the true path, but some people distorted what he said. "I am Lord, and there is none else, there is no God besides me." [The Bible, Isaiah 45:5] "I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me." [The Bible, Isaiah 46:9] Sure other prophets could have prophesied his coming, and so did many of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh), and maybe of other prophets also, but that doesn't mean he is God (nauzubillah). People strayed from the right path. They forgot God's message. This is the reason God sent so many prophets, or else only one would have been required. The Quran and the Injeel were from the same source, i.e. Allah, so even though some portions of the Injeel were distorted, not all could have been, and so there are many similarities between the Quran and the Bible. Regarding fighting, the Quran says: "Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors. " (2:190) Muslims should fight against those who fight with them, for Allah alone, and not for personal profit, and they should not transgress limits. These limits include not hurting the old, women, and children, not damaging trees, not hurting anyone who surrenders, etc., which were repeated by Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) during many battles, and later by the Khalifas. Regarding the Hadith you quoted , I would like you to know the little background I know. In the 7th year of migration, the Holy Prophet sent letters to kings of neighbouring countries, inviting them to Islam. Some of them accepted Islam while some returned polite replies in the negative. When the letter was given to Khusrau, he tore the letter and insulted the Prophet. On that the Prophet said that his kingdom will be ruined. And it so happened that after some time Khusrau died. As for war against him, I have never read about it before. But I have read of many othe military expeditions and all of them were as self-defence against an attack by the enemy. So I am 100% certain that Khusrau must have declared war on the Muslims. Further, the Hadith does not explain the causes of the expedition in detail so you cannot assume that the military expedition was and 'aggressive' act. As for the Jizya, it is to be paid by non-Muslims living in a Muslim state. I live in cantonment area and I have to pay cantonment tax on water and electricity, and I'm sure there must be taxes on living in other areas also, so what's different? Another point I'll add: "And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression and there prevail justice and faith in Allah; but if they cease let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression." (2:193) Farside, I just noticed there was more to your post. Its nearly 1 a.m now and I've got my GCSE tomorrow afternoon, so I'll leave now, and answer you as soon as I'm free. Take care |
