ArchivedA World without Religion?Bwahaha, Life isn`t a bowl of crap, sir. Life is great, being alive is great. I get out of bed to go to work, and on my days off, I spend alot of time with my family. I love being alive, and although I might have my lazy days, I try to enjoy everything, the great outdoors, to see new things and meet new people, dip my feet in a river or lake far from home, read books and learn new things. We only have so much life in us right? Might as well sieze the day. It is you who seem to need more than that, not I.
I had a friend once who told me of a miracle from God. He lived far up North and prayed to God that his relatives from out of town could see the aurora borealis while they were there. That night they only had one chance to drive out in the mountains for a glimpse, and behold! He and his family saw the most spectacular aurora, better than any he had seen in his lifetime, and he had lived there all his life. What a gift from God he told me! I sent him to a link from an astronomy site, One of the largest sunstorms of the decade was observed 8 days previous. They urged people to get out and witness the aurora it would cause that night. The solar wind acting on the earth`s magnetosphere, nothing more nothing less, no miracle just nature explained through science. When? How? PROVE that the laws of nature have EVER been changed, altered or held up please, your point of view or personal beliefs notwithstanding. I`ve heard the claim but never seen the evidence, and it seems that neither has anyone else. I had a Messianic Jew once tell me to call the Vatican to inquire about a piece of Jesus` heart that materialized in a church. The "Scientific" study of the piece revealed it was female, thereby proving biologically that it was Jesus` since he only had his mothers genes. Oh it was all documented and genuine all right! By Gosh and by Golly what a story, and he couldn`t even give me the Vatican`s phone number, as if they would be receptive to my call... Gee, thanks. I really needed to hear that tired line again, It`s usually near the end of religious conversations I have with people who are more than willing to throw out a host of unsubstantiated claims, then they run out of ammo and take a "better than you" position. Don`t worry I`m not insulted, I expect I would hear it here, thanks for coming through, you are helping me out, and I sincerely thank you all. Really, this is very self-affirming. NO HOPE? What need I hope for? to live forever? What are you afraid of? I`m content to have a good life, and leave my seed on the planet. When I die I will return to the dust I came from. Seems perfectly natural to me. |
