Bible StudyIs the NIV for real???I do agree that one should not be so adamant about using the KJV only. I like to use KJV, ASV, Amplified and TLB (seldomly used). I also, like you, look at the greek and hebrew for reference for any question I may have. I do however, believe that the NIV could be misleading to some especially children. As for your case, you go through the effort to look up the Greek NT translation. Just how many people do that? 5%? 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" All scripture? Does this mean any bible that we have today? Is it possible to read two entirely different bibles and come to the same meaning of the Word? From the post I listed above, how do you feel about the NIV being owned by a company that produces other ungodly material? Can we mix evil with good and still call it good? So what about footnotes? Why put it there and not with the main text? Folks, I am sorry to ask so many questions but seriously want input on this matter. I have 3 daughters and I hear that the NIV is so easy to read but when I have read some of the scripture, I was floored by the fact that some of the verses were not there. (now listed as footnotes).
