Rejoicing and Praising Jesus Christ Forum!Jesus and what he says about GodNo problem. OK, so we're supposed to pay homage to, respect..... basically worship Jesus. The thing is: Jesus accepts worship, and is not rebuked by God. Tell me where in the Bible anyone other that God is allowed to accept worship. The angels never did, in fact they rebuked anyone who tried to worship them saying, "Don't worship me. Worship God alone." So, in order for Jesus to be allowed to accept worship, He must be God. If Jesus was just a human who was sinless, how could His sacrifice pay for anyone else's sins but his own? Only an eternal God can pay the eternal price for the sins of all mankind. Interesting that you would use Matthew 4:10 to prove this point. The verse says "Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." This is exactly why it is OK for us to worship Jesus - because He is God. Alright, let's try your logic. You're saying that since Jesus was called the Son of God, then He couldn't possibly be God - He must be a man. Well, guess what? Jesus was also called the Son of Man in Luke. So, using your logic, since Jesus was called the Son of Man, then He couldn't possibly be a man- He must be God. This doesn't make sense, as I pointed out before. If a mere man dies as a sinless man, then the most he can pay for is his own sins (even though he didn't have any) - he can't pay for anyone else. How can God take the sinless life of one mere man, and apply that to all mankind? You've got to be more than just a man if you want to pay for more than your own sins. Couple this sentence with the one right before it, and you've got works-based salvation. You're saying that Jesus lived a sinless life, and in order for us to be able to live (i.e. be saved), we must follow his example and be sinless as well. Tell me, why is it that whenever Jesus said stuff like what Aineo pointed out above, the Jews took up stones to kill Him? It's because they believed He committed blasphemy, i.e. He was claiming to be God. Now, you've already admitted that Jesus was sinless. Therefore, He must have been telling the truth when He claimed to be God, because if He made these claims and was not God, then He would be a liar. And if He was a liar, then His death on the cross means nothing to any of us. But this isn't the case - we know that Jesus was not a liar. Why, then, don't you believe Him when He tells you He is God? You saying that Jesus was not a liar, and also saying that He is not God, is a complete contradiction. |
