Valentia, all sin is disgusting to the Lord and to those who love and follow Him. Homosexuality just happens to be one of those many, many, many sins. Christians are told to love what is good, pure, righteous and holy and to hate things that are ungodly and wicked. But at the same time, we are expected to love the people who are committing these ungodly acts, and to cast out seeds of salvation, in the hopes that they'll allow them to be planted within their hearts.
And I never said that I was perfect. I'm far from it, actually. The only difference between me and and another sinner (We'll call him Joe) is that I am saved through my faith in and obedience to Jesus Christ, and Joe refuses to acknowledge that Jesus even exists. After I ended my sinner's prayer, the Holy Spirit moved into my heart, and my life was changed for the better. Not only that, but now - whenever Satan accuses me - God looks down at me and says, "You see a sinner. I see a righteous person." I'm righteous, not because of my actions, but because I am "clothed" in Jesus Christ.
If you left Christianity behind because of what people do then you don't really understand what Christianity is all about.
Since she abandoned the faith so easily, I question if she even accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Because I find it very hard to believe that someone who genuinely invited Jesus into their heart would so easily turn their back on Him, the instant things got shaky. No true Christian would ever do that.
Finally, you cannot force others into accepting your way. you can only show them your path and hope it will lead them to a better one. Forcing an opinion on someone is not a democracy, it's a dictatorship. That is not what this country is for. That is not what this government is for. Does not a philosopher, which influenced the path of our government say that it is the job of the government to protect the rights of the minorities? And this ammendment will not stop with gay rights. It will move on to discrimination in other things as well.
Valentia, I wonder what you think about the gay activists who have been threatening to expose the homosexual lifestyles of politicians who refuse to block the Federal Marriage Amendment. Aren't these same gay activists
forcing their beliefs upon the majority of the people? A majority, by the way, that supports the FMA and hates same-sex marriage?
