I haven't watched TV for around 7 or 8 years.
EXCEPT for last year, I used to watch the History Channel at my boyfriend's house, just because he had free satellite for awhile and there wasn't a whole lot else to do besides read. Which I do, but it can get old. I found it quite informative in spiritual matters, although that was just the way I look at things. This was only for about a month's time, though, and I really didn't miss it. I just read more.
Other than that, I have no use for it. It's done more harm than can ever be shown as good, and it has far too much influence on those still in the first development of character, especially when the guidance of one or both parents is negligible for whatever reason.
I knew things were bad when I read that a child's attention span as a qualifier in ADD was the same length as a sitcom. What kind of benchmark is the boob tube?!?!
