David wrote:Also keeping in mind that the written Word was not not only not complete when Romans was written, but these people had to rely on word of mouth. Imagine if we had to rely on word of mouth today. What a mess that would be.
Anyways, I do believe that the writer had this in mind when writing Romans. Most especially in this transitional period when Jews were asked to change from things they have practiced their who lives, and in the process were being persecuted for it.
First of all Jews were not asked to
change from things they had practiced all their lives, have you read Acts 15?. Second, what you
believe and interpret Scripture to mean does make your belief correct for several reasons. The most important is:
2 Peter 1:19-21
20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, 21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
NAS
Second, Paul praised the Berean's for being more noble minded than those in Thessaolinica as they searched the Scriptures daily to see if what he taught was
true.
