Science, Creation & EvolutionHow dose science deal with Gods power? It's funny that you mention this, because I actually DID last night. I got a call from a friend, who asked me to come to a party of science students. I talked to some physics student and math students until I met a few girls that were studying psychology (they were a bit out of place, but so was I, since I study art and film). They were 'checking out the nerds' as they told me laughing, and had already identified certain groups of them. I had some interesting discussions with them about evolutionary psychology (which is one of the major theories in psychology) and I decided to apply the same tactic as these girls: Observe and see if the situation really corresponds with the theory.... Remember that I am always referring to the urge to reproduce as one of the mayor 'forces' behind our evolution/behaviour? The situation was perfect: There were about six girls and 50 guys. I was having a discussion with a friend of mine and we takled about instincts and tried to see if we could spot 'instinctive behaviour.' Lol, we counted between 2 and 4 guys in a group around every girl in that bar. Some of our more drunk friends made some pathetic attempts to hit on these girls, one friend stole a poster of a naked woman from the man's bathroom and showed it to us quite proud and one friend was very dissapointed when I patted him on the shoulder and told him the girl he was talking to for the last half hour already had a boyfriend. To further emphasise my point , the first thing these psychology girls said was 'You're thinking about sex, right?' And I laughingly admitted that I was. Yesterday was evidence enough from 'real life' that we are driven by our instincts more than we like to admit. And, as the girls agreed with me, our behaviour and even our sense of morality can be very logically explained without a god. So if you don't want to take my word for it, then take the word of three senior year psychology students. |
