Science, Creation & EvolutionMeat Bad! Veggies GoodI see that Tuppence beat me to the reply! I just finished a list of what was wrong with your examples, On My Way. Hippos and crocodiles both have huge mouths, yet one grazes on plants, while the other only eats meat. The great apes I mentioned have very expressive lips. Some bears use their lips to scoop insects off trees, after removing the bark with their claws (like the Malaysian sun bear.) Carnivores have big teeth for ripping meat. Omnivores usually have teeth that are both for eating meat AND grinding plants. As you can see on this picture we have both molars (for grinding vegetation) and sharp teeth (incisors and canines) for eating meat. Which teeth do you use when you eat a chicken drumstick? (This one's for the non-vegetarians ) Hippos gulp up their food: I've seen entire loafs of bread disappear in the mouth of hippotamusses in the zoo. Crocodiles gulp up their food too. Omnivores usually catch small animals and don't feed on large chucks. Birds, insects and small mammals (and fish) are usually all the animals that are consumed by omnivores. ------- You say that we are not adapted to eating raw meat. I persoanlly like my steak as raw as can be! Several coutries make a habit of eating raw fish (Japanse sushi and Dutch 'Hollandse Nieuwe') A Dutch delicacy: Raw herring You are of course right when you say that we must cook or bake most of our meat before we eat it. This had nothing to do with how god designed us. We have just become very sensative to diseases. We need everything to be very hygienic, because we have adapted to our self-created hygienic environment. Call it micro-evolution or just adaptation. Our bodies do not have the resistance to a lot of diseases, because we don't have to: By cleaning our bathrooms and kitchen and baking our meat we hardly ever come in contact with these harmful bacteria. You might remember from history books that native Americans got ill when explorers came to the Americas: They had not adapted (evolved) resistance to these European diseases. We don't eat of the floor and we hardly eat raw meat, so we are overly sensative to the bacteria/worms etc. that can develop in there. |
