The Scriptures tells us what the dead are doing sleeping (a scriptural metaphor for death, the state of being dead);
and where they are doing it ... in the dust of the earth!
(Dan 12:2) And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
(The other metaphor that Scriptures uses for being dead is being in Sheol [Greek equiv. Hades])
The dead are completely inactive, know nothing, do nothing ... they are ... DEAD ... there are no ghosts
(Eccl 9:5) For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
(Eccl 9:10) Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave (SHEOL), whither thou goest.
So all the dead sleep in the grave until ...
When Christ returns, solely the dead in Christ shall be raised from the dead, raised incorruptible and immortal; they collectively with the living saints, shall be changed and shall meet the Lord in the air.
(1 Cor 15:50-55) Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep [DIE], but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
(1 Th 4:15-17) For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent [PRECEDE] them which are asleep [WHICH ARE DEAD]. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
After 1000 years of reigning upon the earth [REV 20.5-6]
The rest of the dead will be raised to face the White Throne Judgement. [Rev 20.5,12-13]
At that Judgement, those whose names are not found written in the Lamb's Book of Life, will be destroyed in the Lake of Fire, Gehenna. [Rev 20.14-15]
Therefore, there are two fates.
(John 5:28-29) Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation [JUDGEMENT].
Compare Dan 12.2
Many shall be raised from the dead, to receive zoe aionios, Life in the Age to Come; whilst others will receive krisis aionios, Judgement in the Age to Come
Hope this helps!
BTW, No one goes to Heaven. Christ is returning to earth to inaugurate the Kingdom of GOD upon the earth, its capital city, Jerusalem, in fulfillment of ALL that the prophets and the Scriptures have said. [Rev 5.9-10, Isa 9.7, Lk 1.32-33, Mt 19.28, 25.31, 8.11, Lk 13.28-29, 19:11ff, ETC]
You seem to be fragmenting. Read the crusifixion again and try to notice what occures with the tumes. "To be seperate from the body is to be present with the Lord."
