Hindu's and Christian's do not worship the same God. Hindu's believe they have to placate their god while Christians are called to simply love and obey God.
Matthew 22:36-40
36 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" 37 And He said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 "This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 "The second is like it, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 "On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets." NAS
Hindu’s believe in reincarnation and Christians do not:
Hebrews 9:27-28
27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, 28 so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him. NAS
Far to many Christians have set themselves up as judges over those outside our own community when we are told only God has the authority to judge non-Christians:
1 Corinthians 5:9-13
9 I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; 10 I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters; for then you would have to go out of the world. 11 But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he should be an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler-- not even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? 13 But those who are outside, God judges. Remove the wicked man from among yourselves. NAS
As Sophie pointed out in God’s view love is an action not just an emotion. However, love does not approve behavior that is harmful to any person’s eternal destiny. We can love people and teach against behavior God labels sin as Jesus demonstrated when He did not condemn the adulterous woman.
John 8:10-11
10 And straightening up, Jesus said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?" 11 And she said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you; go your way. From now on sin no more." NAS
What is interesting about our gay members is you like to quote Jesus while at the same time ignoring that Jesus taught God’s law. For instance many gays and gay supporters will quote Jesus as saying, “love your neighbor as yourself” as truth while at the same time insisting that Leviticus applies only to the priests. However,
Leviticus 19:17-18
17'You shall not hate your fellow countryman in your heart; you may surely reprove your neighbor, but shall not incur sin because of him. 18'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD. NAS
God’s Law was given for a purpose and is not outdated.
Galatians 3:23-29
23 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. 24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, that we may be justified by faith. 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. 26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.
NAS
1 Timothy 1:8-10
8 But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, 9 realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers 10 and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, NAS
Do some professed Christians treat the gay community as second-class citizens? Yes, but some professed Christians also treat the obese, those whose skin or eyes are different, and others as second-class citizens. Homosexuality is not the only human behavior God labels abominable.
Leviticus 18:20
20 'And you shall not have intercourse with your neighbor's wife, to be defiled with her. NAS
Leviticus 18:26
26 'But as for you, you are to keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not do any of these abominations, neither the native, nor the alien who sojourns among you NAS
Proverbs 6:16-19
16 There are six things which the LORD hates,
Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:
17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
And hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that run rapidly to evil,
19 A false witness who utters lies,
And one who spreads strife among brothers. NAS
At this point in time gay marriage is a hot topic. However, for a Christian opposing gay marriage is not treating the gay community as second-class it is standing for God’s revealed truth.
Platypus, you and others in the gay community demand we Christians understand and accept the gay community while at the same time you refuse to even try to understand us and what we believe. The Bible insists we love you as a person however the Bible does not state we are to accept or approve immoral behavior.
