ArchivedOk. Hoping to educate through reason
I would assert that anyone who trys ban people from the legal right to purchase property while at the same time relies on a broad fan base to earn a living got exactly what she deserved. I was aware the Gay people protested her concerts as well as refused to buy her music after that incident but I wasn't aware that they also boycotted Florida Citrus. Personally I think that the most 'civil' form of protest is economic. Gay people have also for several years boycotted Coors Beer because of it's owners homophobic statements as well as Food Chains such as Cracker Barrel and their blatent discrimination against gay waiters. Outside of being a little abnoxious outside of her concerts I see nothing wrong with the way in which gay people 'protested' her outright discrimination against one group of people to purchase property. Yes we do. Coretta Scott King, while not actually a minister herself particpated heavily this year in the Atlanta Gay Pride Event and is a strong voice nationwide against all sorts of discrimination. She was featured prominately locally for her support within the gay community.
You know the answer to that question and it's rehetoric. Despite the propaganda that most Christains expose, when a woman elects to get an abortion it's a difficult decision not taken lightly. Protesting a medical procedure that someone went through a lot of turmoil to make a final decision is simply wrong. And to only be greated by hatelful slogans and slurs as one is trying to come to terms with such decision isn't even comparable. Fine, Christains are adamtely opposed to abortion. But instead of protesting abortion clinics, I'd like to see Christains nationwide organize a campaign of ways that they could convince women to alter their choice e.g. adoption and financial support programs during pregnancy paid for by them. And BTW, How would Christains feel if Gay people brought dildos inside of Church's and brought them out during communion? I'd hardly call an economic boycott of a product or music artist 'hateful'
Typical. You use the most extreme fringe examples within the gay community to somehow stereotype us all. The lionshare of gay people wouldn't agree with the protestor you describe and you know it. |
