Homosexual Discussion ForumHomosexuality and the BiblePi is irrational? Really, I thought pi was a rational part of math. I learn something new every day. However, since you want to make an issue of this one verse lets take a closer look at it. The diameter was to be 10 cubits and the circumference was 30 cubits. Now a bronze container of that size would require fairly thick walls. So is the circumference that of the outside or the inside? 10 cubits equals 15 ft. and 30 cubits equals 45 ft. The circumference of a circle with a 10 cubits diameter is 47.12 ft. So if the walls or rim of the bronze sea is 1.06 ft thick the inside diameter is exactly 30 cubits. Now lets take this on step further to see if we can discern some more information. The height was to be 5 cubits or 71/2 ft and 12 bronze oxen supported it. So how thick would the walls of the sea have to be to support and contain enough water to fill it? Water weighs 8 lbs per gallon so the weight of the water is 5.3 tons. 1 Kings 7 does not supply sufficient details for an accurate analysis of the verse by the use of math or science. Tommy J, I agree with you. I can remember when eggs were the bane of low cholesterol. I love eggs and eat a lot of them yet my cholesterol is 112. However, you are helping me make a point. The fact is that the opposition of the APA’s and the AMA to real research has limited the available research to prove or disprove what few studies have been done. If the latest studies are true then I would think the gay community would be pleased to learn how to defend themselves (medically speaking) from the identified risks. As far as life span is concerned I have not seen any studies that address long term gay relationships. |
