ArchivedAn interesting logo... :: I know why the caged bird sings.I know why the caged bird sings. Okay, then I'll use a different example - What if someone was playing basketball by himself? He's not helping others, and he is using energy. Is this as "bad" as homosexual sex? The Bible doesn't have the authority to make law under our Constitution either. I don't see how you can demean the authority of the non-elected judges without demeaning the importance of the Bible. This is all irrelevant, though - I thought we were discussing flat-out morality; whether or not it is considered immoral by the Christian faith to engage in sexual activities with a member of the same sex. There's no need for us to argue about the law. It's there in hard copy, we can see what it says. I'm more interesting in learning about what the viewpoints of Christianity are when it comes to homosexuality, not about the viewpoints of non-elected judges who don't have authority. I didn't think Brucey's argument was ludicrous - I thought it was very well put. Besides...what if Brucey isn't a member of the United States? There's a very high chance that he isn't, you know. Regardless of this, he isn't questioning the laws of the United States. He's questioning the believes of the Christian faith. .....Wasn't that what he was just saying? "Maybe sodomy was just largely considered disgusting" seems to me to fit in quite nicely with your statement "exclusive gay relationships have never been approved by any western culture until recently." So....why do you claim he has no real knowledge of the subject? What he said agrees with what you said. Uh.....So is it unacceptable if I breathe? I'm not really promoting the love of my neighbors while I inhale oxygen, but that's not exactly unacceptable. Unless it is. I think what you meant was that anything that does not either keep us alive or make us happy is unnacceptable. This, I will agree with. However, it's taken a step further - your happiness cannot come out of someone else's sadness. If a poor person steals food from a grocery store because her child is about to die of hunger and there is no other way for her to keep the child alive, it is not a sin. This is taught in Christian morality classes. Stealing does not promote love of the neighbor, but feeding your child does. However, stealing is still part of the act. Stealing, in this case, is "permissable". Not unnaceptable. |
