Stealing is never acceptable even to feed a child. There are agencies that provide food and shelter to those in need. Any person who teaches that according to Christian morality stealing to feed a child is permissible is a liar. If you want to keep legal systems out of this discussion then I suggest you come up with examples that do not violate the law since any parent caught stealing anything including food will be arrested and their children made wards of the state. In some eastern countries the offending person can have their hands cut off.
Brucey’s assumption concerning why “sodomy” is considered immoral does not coincide with the history of the west so bringing up history is appropriate as part of my response. As to why Christians view “sodomy” as immoral this is because God states all sexual unions outside a monogamous heterosexual marriage is a sin and that includes sex between consenting adults who engage in sex as a contact sport.
Leisure activity can be “loving your neighbor” since if your neighbor enjoys sports then joining in such activity is not a violation of Christian beliefs therefore to equate an immoral activity with a morally neutral activity is ludicrous. Some people (we call them criminals) enjoy stealing and other illegal activities so if you support or encourage such activity you are not “loving your neighbor” as the consequences are detrimental to your neighbor.
For a fairly comprehensive understanding of how the Bible uses the word “love” read this article from The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia = love. Sexual unions are not referred to as “love” in the Bible.
