Evidence for ID and creationrapid geologic processesIt's not unusual for metamorphic conditions to vary across an orogen and in the post that was deleted Wolfgang Preiss states: "They were thoroughly ductile when they were deformed and are at least at upper greenschist facies if not higher. " and "This is in the middle of the area which probably experienced the greatest degree of Delamerian shortening seen anywhere in the orogen. " No geologist is familiar with every single outcrop on the globe and I can only go by what I see in the photos (nice attempt at a snide remark; however). I could not see individual minerals to judge exactly what grade of metamorphism deformed these rocks, but typically high grade rocks show this type of metamorphism. Upper greenschist to amphibolite facies metamorphism takes place at P-T conditions of roughly 400-500 C and 400-800 MPa. As far as your alternative hypothesis is concerned, it is nonsensical because you do not get upper greenschist to lower amphibolite minerals forming at surface conditions. -E |
