Is it true that God in Christianity is loving, merciful, and kind, but in Islam He is the Irresistible, the Almighty, the Punisher, the Strong?
In fact, God is God; He is to be the same God in all divine religions. God is all those attributes, He has to have all those attributes. Indeed, He has the
Twokinds of attributes: attributes of mercy and attributes of power. The first kind includes attributes such as the Merciful, the Compassionate, the Kind, the Loving, the Forgiver, the Pardoner, the Generous, the Peaceful,
And the Sustainer.
The Second Kind includes attributes such as the Strong, the Almighty,
The Revenger, and the Punisher.
Both are needed, People need both God's mercy and power. They have to love God and fear Him at the same time. A god who is loving only would
Not deter criminals, sinners, transgressors, and wrongdoers. Similarly, a god who is a punisher only would close the door in the face of sinners.
Islam gives God ninety-nine attributes, called the Good Names of God,
Such as the Creator, the Initiator, the Forgiver, the Sustainer, the One,
The Only, and the Merciful.
According to Islam, God is kind and merciful, but at the same time He is ready to punish whoever deserves punishment, according to God's own judgment. He forgives whomever He wants to forgive, and He punishes whomever He wants to punish as justly as he deserves, not forgetting
His mercy, justice, and grace.
