Great, I agree with you fully on the fact that most of the "The Pagans" that claim to be Pagans are in relity teenage punks who want to rebel against society.
Anyway to answer your question friend, everything has gone down hill basically since Rome lost its Paganism because they have lost faith in the old gods. And what makes Greco/Roman Paganism unqiue from from Pagan Faiths (No offense to Pagan readers) Is that is by far the most centrilized Pagan Faith I have seen, and most of the propheces proposed by the oracles at Delphi and in Rome came true in some way or another.
Is is also the driving point of Rome's Greatness. Rome built an empire that was greater then all the great nations today. It was the center of the world for a very long time.
Norse Gods belonged to Scanadanavia Peoples yet did they really honestly get anywhere beside looting a bunch of churches? Not a really advanced culture either. And Baybolonians and Epyptians their gods were added into the Roman Imperial Religion. Isis and Mithras were Persian and Egypitan. Same with Celtic Gods. Celts were a nothing in Europe untill Julius Caeser conquered them and their gods were adopted by the Romans and from then on Celtic Gods were well known for bringing properity to Gaul (Modern day France) My faith has a policy of adopting other culture's gods and when it does this I am assuming (This is just speculation) that those gods or goddess are adopted into the extended family of Olympians and given power over earthly affairs. Pure specualation of coarse...
Another thing that is worth mentioning is the Aztec Faith...their empire was glorious but their gods and goddess never became part of the Roman Pantheon! This I find puzzling....and I am doing reserch to see why this is the case. I live in the U.S State of Hawaii a Pagan infulence is stong here, the old gods are still powerful in special holy areas and "Night Marchers" are a scary phanmenon. Other Pagan Faiths that are outside European Infulence fell because.....they were not connceted to the main Pantheon of Zeus and his relatives
So after saying all that you are probably thining if all these gods can be adopted and they are considered "real" or not....why isn't the god of Abarham (Christian God) real and can be adopted by Pagan Faiths as well???
I think this has something to deal with the fact that your god is a jelous god....and does not have an extended family and is ussually not thought of as female. Thereforce I am propsing because of this the Christian God with it's all powerfulness COULD be real but in my mind is not because culture and soceity are based off the family and a group of gods with an extended family seems more logical in my mind then a dicatorship by one Lord of the Universe.
Sorry that is where my ignorance comes in....because I cannot accpet a dictatorship of one universal god over a family of coroporating gods.
Plus you must also look at the invisble spirtual energy....(holy spirit, the force, mana whatever you want to call it) and how it comes into play in our everday universe. Because even if I stopped believing in religion I would always believe in a higher power or spirtual energy that is everywhere.
Now if the bible stated that your god was not jelous and was accepting maybe the god of the Christian would have been accepted into the Pantheon....but he was jelous and therefore he never existed because The CHRISTIAN GOD ISN"T SUPPOSED TO HAVE SIN and jelousy is a sin my freind. That is where the Christian God is hypocrytical. The Christian God does not exist because he is jelous and does not share the power (I understand if you think this is naive)
My gods are known for their sinning and its fine, but when one god decides to get rid of his family and become a soul god because he or she is jelous that is where the line is drawn.
