Homosexual Discussion ForumWhy Wouldnt Christans Support Gay Marriage from a Moral..Tommy J, I did not attack you I made an observation that since you totally discount what is published in the gay media and the secular media concerning gay men and promiscuity then you have discounted any basis for real discussion. I did not attack you as an individual.
Science has yet to take the time or spent the money to prove that homosexuality is genetic. All studies so far have been superficial, disproved or questioned, and have not empirically proven anything. Therefore until you can empirically prove that homosexuality is genetic like race then you do not have a foundation that gay unions are a civil rights issue. The right to marry is established by law by each state, therefore each state defines who can and cannot marry. The U.S. Constitution gives legislative power to the U.S. Congress and the U.S. Constitution also limits the power of the Supreme Court as the Congress shall dictate. If the Congress of the United States allows the Supreme Court to usurp there Constitutional authority we are no longer a republic we are an oligarchy. "We the people" does not give 3% of the population the right to dictate to the 97% or 9 appointed judges the right to control the U.S. Congress. Your argument concerning hospital visitations and right of inheritance is weak since a properly executed living trust, power of attorney, and last will and testament can enforce the expressed will of the infirm and the deceased. Where you have probate judges ignoring properly executed last will and testaments you have a judiciary out of control. Tommy J, how much do you know about Social Security survivors benefits? For a married couple that has never been divorced survivor benefits are cut and dried; however when divorce is involved then survivor benefits are not so cut and dried as the first spouse’s (if they have never remarried) rights can trump those of the surviving spouse. The interesting aspect about psychological studies is they are anecdotal and since people can and do change their opinions and behavior over time these studies are at most interesting but lack any real foundation of truth on which to force society to accept immoral behavior as innate, immutable, and unchangeable. It is not uncommon for children to explore their bodies and physical reactions. Therefore to appeal to childhood experimentation as a basis for sexual orientation is misleading. In fact we could make a good case that homosexuals do not mature emotionally beyond adolescence based on these same studies you cited. |
