Aineo,
You said,
"If hell is a place of eternal punishment then hell would not be cast into the lake of fire"
The Greek word "Gehenna" translated "hell" 12 times in the New Testament in the KJV refers to the lake of fire, some of these verses are Matt.5:22, Matt. 10:28, Mark 9:43,45,47, Luke 12:5, James 3:6 etc. which refers to eternal punishment, and the Greek word "Hades" is translated "hell" 11 times such as Matt.16:18, Luke 16:23, plus 9 other times which is not eternal. Hell {Hades} is a waiting place of suffering for the damned souls until the final judgment, and then they get cast into the lake of fire{Gehenna} which IS eternal.
I do believe that a saved person goes immediately to go be with the Lord at death, because Paul said, "For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and TO BE WITH CHRIST; WHICH IS FAR BETTER." {Philippians 1:23}. I believe that Paul is with the Lord right now and so is every christian that left this life. As far as Enoch and Elijah going bodily into heaven, the bible doesn't exactly say that, they went up into heaven, but before they actually reached heaven, their physical body could have desintergraded and ended up reaching heaven in spirit only, after all, heaven is a spiritual place, and Enoch and Elijah would have no need for a physical body. I think Enoch and Elijah would seem out of place being the only two with physical bodys. Now of course, I don't know for sure, but still, the bible does not say that they actually reached the kingdom of heaven in their physical bodys. They may have went up in the physical bodys and on the way up, either got transfomed into spiritual bodys or whatever.
