Christian/Muslim ThreadsMost Gracious, Most Merciful Allah? It is well, religiously permissible rape, offends your sense of decency. Hope you are even more repulsed by the notion holy God would sanctify immorality. The countless rape of conquered women throughout history is grievous enough without need to codify rape in a sacred text. Man from the beginning has blasphemed his Holy Name, more repugnant is the thought our Creator would do the same for the sake of a man's insatiable libido . What special pleading, of the above Quranic verse, is believed you are entitled? I would expect if bond of marriage was condition for sex there would be no need to mention captive female(s) since they would also be wives. In the same matter I would expect it be made clear female captive will become a wife after sexual union and have all the protection of marriage. But no such conditions are made before or after. Frankly, I have no idea what you are arguing. The majority of Muslim world (particular Muslim men) understand the Quran permits the rape of female captives, and hadith perpetuate this Quran-inspired immorality. Should you be among moderate or liberal Muslims who seeks a reinterpretation of Quran more fitting to character of the holy God, fine, by all means do so. Certainly a good God would no have qualms with speech which honors his Holy Name. However I have had enough of the hyperbole and flowery language which surrounds Islam. Likewise with the less than honest explanation concerning Islamic difficulties. joseph |
