666 is clearly a holy number in Islam. From this search is it a stretch to ponder as to whether the prophet Mohammed is the "man" referred to in Rev 13:18? Have too many Evangelicals been looking in the wrong place for antichrist?
There are only 4 verses in Scripture that use the term antichrist. They are:
1Jo 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
1John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
2Jo 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
From these 4 verses it would seem safe to presume that antichrist is a spirit that is very much alive and well in the dark hearts of hundreds of millions in the world today.
Additionally, on the faces of the octagon surrounding the Dome of the Rock, built on the Temple Mount, both God's footstool and also the 3rd "holiest" site in Islam, it bears repeated inscription that God has no Son. Would this not exactly describe the spirit of antichrist of the 4 related verses above?
Indeed the very founding inscription on The Dome of the Rock reads:
"O you People of the Book, overstep not bounds in your religion, and of God speak only the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, is only an apostle of God, and his Word which he conveyed unto Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from him. Believe therefore in God and his apostles, and say not Three. It will be better for you. God is only one God. Far be it from his glory that he should have a son."
Here is one of over 700 Googled sites when a search is done "far be it from his glory that he should have a son" in quotes.

Is it so hard to imagine that the verses quoted above - the founding verses of the Dome of the Rock - could have been channeled straight from the lips of a beautiful, smooth-tongued, jealous and angry seducer - a fallen angel that had been kicked out of Heaven?
How far beyond our notice is it that in downtown Detroit Michigan the call to prayer now blasts over loudspeakers in the Hamtramck section for 2 minutes, 5 times a day, in spite of the non-Islamic (largely Polish) residents of the community? Meanwhile as the 1947 Everson decision continues to straightjacket the U.S. Christian Church, Islam is experiencing explosive growth in "converts" worldwide, and particularly among prison inmates here in the U.S.
Let's try Revelation 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred [and] threescore days.
Most believe that Israel is the "woman" for purposes of this verse. If we start with a presumption that the end of the 1260 days was when Israel declared her independence in 1948 and subtract 1260 years ("each day for a year") we arrive at 688. A quick Yahoo search confirms that this was indeed the beginning year of the building of THE DOME OF THE ROCK! Oh well, perhaps just a coincidence. Since the day/years here are New Testament we can use them straight up, without any adjustment for Old Testament Hebrew years.
Let's try Revelation 11:2 Rev But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty [and] two months.
The city of Jerusalem was trodden by the Gentiles until the Israelis took control in 1967. There is an average of 30.44 days in a month, multiplied by 42 months = 1278.5 days (as years). Subtracting this from 1967 we arrive at…..drum roll?…….688.5, once again the Dome of the Rock..
Perhaps an Old Testament "coincidence" is called for: Dan 12:11 And from the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, [there shall be] a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
These Old Testament day/years would also be something that Daniel could relate to or 1290 - 360 day - Hebrew years, each year being .9857 solar year. 1290x.9857=1271.5 solar years. Subtracting 583 (because it is BC) we get…….688.5. Another crazy coincidence!
