Science, Creation & EvolutionMicroevolution over time...Some things can't be seen, studied, or observed. So, naturally one relies on Faith on these issues. Even atheists have faith that things just randomly happened. But, when hardcore evidence shows that life underwent microevolution over epochs of time which led to different animals altogether, that evidence should be accepted as Science...science is nothing but theories and facts that are observable. To Reason is to mix Faith and Science and reconcile the two. I'm a man of reason, what are you? I took CCD class, that's about as Catholic as I am. I do understand some of the traditions on my faith. Evolution was never discussed. I'm just a man of science. Science is a part of my life and so is Faith. I have almost no choice but to reconcile the two, with good reasoning. People have been around longer than 6,000 years! You have to use reason, Aineo. We have fossils of creatures that show a progression of features and things, and different dating techniques seem to measure the age of our world in millions of years, our world must be older than a few thousand years for life to undergo even microevolution. The subtle differences between Asian and African elephants took millions of years to form. We are mammals, our women develope babies in a placenta, we have vestigial organs that more primitive mammals had, we have hair and are warm blooded. Our organ arrangement resembles mammals. How do you rationalize all of this? Maybe being created in God's image is a purely metaphysical thing, because it sure isn't a physical thing. |
