So what your professor is ignoring is that advanced civilizations, such as the Assyrians, the Egyptians, and etc. predate the Christian era by thousands of years? Your professor is also ignoring:
Genesis 2:15
Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. NKJV
And:
Leviticus 25:2-7
2 "Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: 'When you come into the land which I give you, then the land shall keep a sabbath to the LORD. 3 Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather its fruit; 4 but in the seventh year there shall be a sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a sabbath to the LORD. You shall neither sow your field nor prune your vineyard. 5 What grows of its own accord of your harvest you shall not reap, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine, for it is a year of rest for the land. 6 And the sabbath produce of the land shall be food for you: for you, your male and female servants, your hired man, and the stranger who dwells with you, 7 for your livestock and the beasts that are in your land -- all its produce shall be for food. NKJV
And:
Matthew 6:24
"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. NKJV
What we see today is men serving "mammon" or the god of accumulated wealth.
How does your professor view this:
Exodus 20:9-11
9
Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. NKJV
I wonder if those who blame Christianity for the environmental woes are willing to work 6 days since God also said:
Ezekiel 16:49-50
49 Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughter had pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. 50 And they were haughty and committed abomination before Me; therefore I took them away as I saw fit. NKJV
Is your professor willing to work six days and grow his own food, and make his own cloths from cotton, wool, and etc. he tends himself? When he takes a vacation does he get in his car and drive or board a jet plane and fly to some distant local where he can idle his time away enjoying the conveniences that are attributable to the technology he blames on Christianity? Does your professor own a car, lawn mower, or any other modern convenience that requires the use of electricity or an internal combustion engine? Does he eat processed foods manufactured in plants that use electrical power generated by burning coal or natural gas, wear clothes made from petroleum based products or use modern conveniences made from plastic, which is petroleum based? If he does then he is contributing to the problem he blames on Christianity.
I think your professor has a problem with the accumulation of wealth that requires wealthy men to rape the earth instead of "tending the garden".
