Science, Creation & EvolutionRing SpeciesLet me correct what I have said. I don't believe a whole new phylum can conceivably be created from a complex organism such as a salamander. In more primitive micro-organisms, whose genetic code is much, much smaller, and who have a much faster life cycle, genetic mutation can lead to a whole new order of organisms splitting off from the original population. You cannot dismiss evolutionary biology as simple guesswork. A large part of science is theoretical and can never be directly experimented with and/or proven. The theories of evolutionary biology are based on enormous amounts of hard evidence, however, and are thus not blind speculation. This is more than I can say for most religious theories. |
