Thanks for the replies, well same here iam neither frightened nor going to change my believe.
i am not religious, you dont' see me in the mosque every friday, or talking about religion anywhere else, but i stopped by this forum when i saw some hostile posts againest muslims, and it is extremely unfair the way muslims are being portraid especially here in the states, while the reality is extremely different. mostly iam interested in political point of view more than religious, but anyways ill answer to some of your points.
yes we believe in torah, bible, we believe that there is one god, the god who created humans, and then sent prophets to them one nation after another every time they worshiped him the wrong way or they went out of line, and therefore we believe in mosus and jesus as prophets of god, not as god himself, we honor them just like prophet muhamad.
now what i meant by my post is just like there are things in quran that will totally contradict your believe and their four wouldn't sound credible to you, i.e. jesus is only a prophet, there are things in the bible that will contradict my believe, and that is not because the bible isn't perfect or the word of god, but because the bible that exists now has been changed,
for once you say some of it was there before jesus was born, and then some of it was completed after jesus died, and some of it is the word of human like paul etc.
i really don't see why some people would go through the trouble of trying to prove islam is wrong or christianity is wrong, you have your believes and we have ours and as long as everyone is happy about what they got then they should go with it and in the afterlife everyone will see if they were right or wrong.
i am mostly interested in arguing with those who try to make islam look bad, or try to portray it in a bad way, first of all whats their point of it ? and second of all where do they come up with this stuff?
mostly the main two issues they would try to nail islam with are women and laws. if they knew anything about islam other than what they see or hear in their own agenda driven media then they might have another idea.
now in terms of believes, christians and muslims share pretty much same believes except of the major issue of jesus being god or not, but in terms of sin and good, afterlife, heaven and hell, adam and eve, morality, etc, its all the same, and it all proves one thing, that all the time there was one god and all the teachings came from him.
and about the death, your argument that people die because of the sin of adam, that is not exactly the case, people live on earth because the sin of adam that is the case, being in heaven means no death, no pain, etc, but when he was punished by going down to earth, then he had to experience the earth's life, which has pain, death, etc, and therefore as long as human on earth they will go through all this, and same with jesus, he is up there now and therefore won't experience death until he comes back to earth. and islam teaches that adam and even going back to heaven.
once again i didn't say jesus on earth or dead, we believe that god saved him when they wanted to kill him and he will come back at the end of time, to lead all people and then will die on earth.
about god's judgment, islam teaches that god hold you responsible to the smallest sin, and that he got a scale at the judgment day where your good work and bad work will be placed, so god is fair and perfect, however god is merciful, he won't dismiss your sins, yet he will knowingly and willingly forgive them and will reward you when you earn it. this is what islam is all about, being rewarded for the good you do and punished for the bad you do.
now about the sacrifice thing, and your quote from islamvoice.com, their view or explanation isn't necessarly correct or should be taken, i mean just like i can bring thousands of things said by christians that would contradict your believe and you simply would say don't take everything you hear from christians.
now about abraham, it is so not true that he sacrificed his son, nor was gonna sacrifice him to create a healthy race, abraham was put to the test by god when he was given the order during his sleep to kill his son, then he obeyed and god told him that he passed the test and didn't let him kill his son. and the other thing is, yes human should sacrifice for god, BUT why should god sacrifice for human?? you are saying how come its ok for abraham to sacrifice for god yet its not ok for god to sacrifice , thats not the best analogy here, god does not need to sacrifice, nevermind that god don't even have a son.
