Abdullah, I wonder if you understand what was going on at the temptation of Jesus? If you did, you would see the problem and the reason Jesus didn't submit to temptation
There were two sides to these temptations. A human side and a divine side. Let's look first at the human side
Each of these temptations affect or focus on a part of human nature that leaves us vulnerable to deliberate sin.. ie sin we choose deliberately to do. Remember, in Hebrews, we are told that Jesus was tempted in everyway as we were, yet is without sin. (Hebrews 4:14-15)
The tempatation to turn stones into bread (hunger) focuses on man's physical needs and desires. Jesus's response shows that God's will and not his physical needs, must determine our choices.
The temptation to leap from temple is answered by another quote Dueteronomy 6:16) , This was a temptation that showed up people who demand evidence of God's presence and refuse to accept Him by faith. Satan demanded God prove Himself in this temptation, Jesus replied, YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD THY GOD TO THE TEST.
The third temptation was that of abandoning God's will and making yourself the centre of the universe. It was the offer of a short cut to a desired and good goal, that would have taken Jesus out of the will of God.
In His weakended physical and emotional state, Jesus withstood the temptations and did not yield to them. So also must we.
But far greater than just an example for us, there was a spiritual attack going on here.
Notice how the temptations came to Him "if you are the Son of God"... ,
then the three temptations were totally spiritual .. and He used spiritual weapons.. The word of God, to resist temptation.
The spiritual attack at it's basic attack is seen in the third temptation.. Satan offered Jesus the chance to take back what Satan had been given.. the control of the world.. but at what price? That God the Son should bow and worship Satan.
Now, to understand this, you need to know Isaiah 14:12, where the fall of satan is described.. what did he desire? you said in your heart, I will ascend to heaven, I will raise my throne above the stars of God. I will enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds, I will make myself like the Most High God."
Satan came to Jesus and offered Him the easy way out.. no cross, in order that Satan would achieve the very thing he had been thrown out of heaven for.. wanting to be worshipped as the Most High God. If Jesus had succumbed to that third temptation, mankind would have been forever trapped in slavery.. not to Allah as you Muslims believe.. but to Satan, because we are all slaves to sin and to death and to Satan, unless we are children of God. Jesus CHOSE the cross.. He could have chosen otherwise.. but He CHOSE the cross for me and for you!! Can we dare, make fun of something the MOST HIGH GOD ordained and which the SON of GOD chose to endure to achieve our freedom and forgiveness and acceptance?
