Your right annie, He will never abandon you, people abandon him!
As long as you love Him wholeheartedly then your in safe territory, but there are some, as you said{wolves in sheeps clothing} who try to lure you away from him with very deceiving doctrines, there are many and I can make a long list of them.
One for example, which I have dealt with many times in the past is Universalism{Everyone will eeventually be saved} Doctrines such as these can lead many astray, example: If a person believes that to be true then he or she will probably go back to their sinful nature since he or she will eventuall be saved no matter what.
And they will use scriptures such as:John 12:32 - And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
Christ died for all men who are drawn to him; but this is not true of all men, that are, were, or shall be in the world. by "all" are meant, all the elect of God, all the children of God, "I will draw all men to me"; refers to some of all sorts of men, all nationalities, sex and etc..
The Holy Spirit draws people unto Him:John 6:44 - No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
When you are God's child you are an enemy of the Devil as you already know. God Bless for your zeal for the Lord and keep strong.
How can you discern between true believers an false teachers?
Ask God, it is written:James 1:5 - If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Furthermore Jesus said:Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
But there is more:And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
False believer do not bear forth fruits of the spirit but dwindle away slowly.
Tares{False Converts}Wheat and Tares bear a striking resembelance but the tares do not come to fruition. Some of the tares are extremely hard to differentiate between the wheat{true converts} that is why Jesus said:But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Burn them{Lake of Fire}
Barn{Kingdom of God}
And last but not least, ask God to give you spiritual perception and hindsight so that you may be able to discern all deception especially in these last{last} days.
God Bless child o God!
