The substitutions you've made render the scenarios absurd... which makes my point quite well, I think.
How many boys have had to transfer schools because their fellow students beat them up for being fat -- and their teachers said they couldn't ensure their safety? How many girls have garnered pornographic death threats from their fellow students -- which were completely disregarded by their principal -- for being Christian?
These are not hypothetical cases, subject to a simple substitution of nouns and adjectives for your preferred "oppressed" group. These are the actual experience of real people. These kids were treated the way they were treated -- by both peers and authority figures -- because they were perceived as being gay. Not because they were fat, or Christian, or anything else.
