ArchivedGabriel is the Angel of Death. If you consider "love your neighbor as yourself" and "love your enemy" ways to lower peoples defenses that is fine. The Bible does not teach or instruct us to kill those who disagree with us. As to family division over faith, that is a fact of life. Jews disown children who convert to Christianity, Muslims kill children who convert, and non-Christian nations have laws about converting people from the state religion to Christianity. This indicates a fear that exceeds what you see as "There are many examples of the Nazarene using 'love' as a way to disarm people and lower their defenses making them hopelessly defenseless against enemies". Avoiding a fight is not being a coward or being defenseless. Love is not just an emotion, it is an action. Love your neighbor means to feed him when he is hungry, give him water when he is thirsty, etc. It does not mean to sit back and let people use you as a doormat. |
