Just like you need to eat three times a day, so Did Daniel pray to God three times a day because he felt it would be necessary and he wanted to have a relationship with God. The facing Jerusalem thing may have been a practise of somekind in those days, but personally, that does not mean anything. However i will get more information on this if you like.
Pray is NOT just getting your knee's onto the floor on a mat and facing a direction and muttering words towards the skies ... Its more than that. Prayer is when we talk to God and establish a connection with him if you like. I think real prayer is quite beyond you at this point, obviously its hard for you to understand without you being in the Light.
"pray ye without ceasing..."
Ahhh ... Wonderful scripture. Well ... If God knows we have a physical life and other duties to do, if he has put on this earth and yet he tells us to pray continually ... Thats a bit contradictory, God knows we have other things to do, but yet he tells us this, why?
To understand what Prayer is we MUST take this scripture into context. The question to ask is ... What is Prayer?
Prayer is from the Heart of Man which goes to the Heart of God, Meditation is also a form of Prayer you can do (I mean the Biblical Meditation, not Yoga or eastern mediation where you empty your head and get filled with demons). In short the bible tells us to meditiate is to take all thoughts captive, and bring them in line with the Word of God, the Bible,
Psalm 19;14 - "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my HEART, be acceptable in thy sight"
HEART, not by Ritual. Praying ritually 5 times a day is not by the Heart.
Now ... If Meditation is acceptable in Gods SIGHT, that means he can SEE your THOUGHTS, when we say God can SEE your heart, it means that God can see your Spirit man, your thoughts, emotions and your will.
Is then thought Material, or im-material? (rather obvious it's non-seeable)
So, if your thoughts are in line with the Bible and your thoughts are ACCEPTABLE in his sight, means he can see your thoughts, God who is a Spirit being can see the material and the im-material world that is the Spirit world. SO ... as you are meditating in your Heart, God is SEEING your thoughts, and if they are right in his sight they are acceptable, MEANING ... you dont have to be banging your heads on the floor for him to accept it as prayer, you are doing the things which you have to do in this world and life, yet your thoughts are flowing to him constantly that are pleasing to him.
Meditation on Gods word is Prayer, and THIS is what that scripture is talking about.
Meaning of meditation = to ponder, think, revolve in your mind, to reflect upon, to mutter under ones breath, to consider, etc.
Thanks.
