I don't agree that different interpretation of the Bible is denying Christ. The Bible is a wonderful tool but can only be used to it's fullest potential when it is understood to fit the current age. Take these passages from the Bible for example:
"The he [God] said to them defile the Temple and fill the Courts with the slain. Go!" - Ezekiel 9:7
"No one who has been emasculated by crushing or cutting may enter the assembly of the Lord. No one born of forbidden marriage, not any of his descendants may enter the assembly of the Lord, even down to the Tenth generation" - Deuteronomy 23:1,2
"If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity" - Deuteronomy 25:11,12
They simply can not be used to benefit us in this day. Before we can fully appreciate the Bible we must understand that it was written by humans. Even if God was speaking through them, it is without doubt that their flawed human minds would have added to some of God's commands. Thus these passages are products not just from God, but from the age they were written, when these practices were considered acceptable. That, I firmly believe, is the case with the Bible's view on homosexuality. In Sodom and Gomorrah, God punished the homosexual citizens. But that does not mean we can interpret it to mean it was becausethey were homosexual. According to the passage, the men were committing rape. Perhaps this was the crime they committed in God's eyes rather than homosexuality. We must realize that humans attempted to interpret God's glory as best they could in their age. Now we must do the same for our own age. If we do not, then we cannot enjoy the Bibles true power. Thank you for reading and I hope I can provoke some thought about this issue.
