Christian/Muslim ThreadsThe 99 names of God, another Persian belief taken by IslamZoroastrians? The idea of one God isn't new. Does Allah worship as God too in Christian and Jewish? Did Allah sent many other Prophet before Jesus too? Did Allah send other Prophet just to Jews? The divine message revealed by Zarathushtra Spitama who was known to the ancient Greeks as Zoroaster. About 3500 years ago, Zarathushtra preached that there is only ONE GOD whom he called Ahura Mazda (Lord of Wisdom). The Gathas, composed by Zarathushtra, are incorporated in the Avesta, the religious book of the Zoroastrians. Mmm... some addition to ONE god here... Fire, the provider of heat and light and the source of life and growth, was the center of all religious rituals of the ancient Indo-Iranians, and till this day, fire plays an important role in the religious ceremonies of the Hindus and Zoroastrians. Zarathushtra reformed the fire cult and made it the symbol par excellence of Ahura Mazda. In his Gathas he speaks of fire as a bright and powerful creation of Ahura Mazda and prefers fire instead of idols as a symbol of divinity. In its simplest form, fire is that which burns and gives out light. Fire can consume all organic matter and is able to transform most inorganic matter. The burning may be likened to that which destroys evil by consuming or changing. The light may been seen as that which makes life possible by providing heat and energy that permeates all of Ahura Mazda’s creations. Light in its various manifestations, whether it be from the fiery substance in the depths of the earth, or the glow of the sun, or the twinkle of the stars, is emblematic of Nature and Ahura Mazda. In his Gathas, Zarathushtra mentions Fire eight times in Yasna 31.3, 31.19, 34.4, 43.4, 43.9, 46.7, 47.6 and 51.9. Fire is described as bright, warm and energetic faculty of Ahura Mazda. Zarathushtra refers to the Divine Fire as the agency that derives its power form Asha (Truth, Immutable law) and rewards the righteous and the truthful. The epithet for fire in the Gathas is athro asha aojanho(the true strong fire). 99 Names of God According to Islamic tradition, 99 names are the names that God has revealed to man. The Prophets know even more names of God, while the Angels know more than the Prophets, and God knows more than anyone else. However, the Qur'an knows actually many more than 99 names or titles for God. This is evidenced in the following excerpt of a book review by Dr. Christine Schirrmacher of a German work by the author Djafari: Hamid Molla Djafari. Gott hat die schönsten Namen ... Islamische Gottesnamen, ihre Bedeutung, Verwendung und Probleme ihrer Übersetzung [God has the most beautiful names. God's names in Islam, their meaning, use, and problems with their translation]. Peter Lang: Frankfurt 2001, 357 pages In the Koran we read: "The most beautiful names belong to Allah. So call on him by them" (surah 7:180). "The most beautiful names" are understood by Muslim theologians as names and attributes of God which are used during prayer, Sufi-meditation or while saying the rosary. God's names are important as God has not revealed himself in Islam, as Muslim theologians hold, but has only sent down his Holy Book, the Koran. In the Koran, we read about his attributes and how he dealt with mankind in history. In folk Islam, people believe that God has 99 names, whereas the 100th name is hidden to the believer. In the Koran, we find more than 99 names; therefore, Muslim theologians have composed long lists of God's attributes differing from each other. For this reason, Molla-Djafari can give a list of about 200 names. He analyses them linguistically, describes when they are used and interprets their meanings in order to correct former "wrong" translations, as he emphasizes. By and then, Molla-Djafari leaves his scientific approach aside ... Nevertheless, the book is worth reading as it lists the "most beautiful names of God" like the "Merciful", the "Gracious", the "Forgiver", the "Pardoner" beside names for Allah like "the Humiliator", "the Tormentor", "the Torturer", and "the best of Planners and Plotters" (ChSch). Unless you can proof that Bible was written by God than we can argue on that. According to Dr. Bucaille, "One wonders how many readers of the Old Testament, if asked the above question, would reply by repeating what they had read in the introduction to their Bible. They might answer that, even though it was written by men inspired by the Holy Ghost, the author was God." He continued, "Sometimes, the author of the Bible's presentation confines himself to informing his reader of this succinct observation which puts an end to all further questions. Sometimes he corrects it by warning him that details may subsequently have been added to the primitive text by men, but that nonetheless, the litigious character of a passage does not alter the general "truth' that proceeds from it. This "truth' is stressed very heavily. The Church Authorities answer for it, being the only body, With the assistance of the Holy Ghost, able to enlighten the faithful on such points. Since the Councils held in the Fourth century, it was the Church that issued the list of Holy Books, ratified by the Councils of Florence (1441), Trent (1546), and the First Vatican Council (1870), to form what today is known as the Canon. Just recently, after so many encyclicals, the Second Vatican Council published a text concerning the Revelation which is extremely important. It took three years (1962-1966) of strenuous effort to produce. The vast majority of the Bible's readers who find this highly reassuring information at the head of a modern edition have been quite satisfied with the guarantees of authenticity made over past centuries and have hardly thought it possible to debate them." Do explain me about that. Trinity How about the TRINITY concept where was it lend anyway? Clue: Jesus was send to Jew people, then the religion must be for them. The day off for Jew people was saturday. How on earth Christian change it into Sunday? What ancient people choose sunday as a day off? Opppss... The day we used to was adapted from them. Who fabricated TRINITY concept to the early Christianity? When exactly the word christian first exist? Obviously not in the life of Jesus. |
